Show Jumping World Cup Rīga Leg Grand Prix
From 26 to 29 July, at Kleisti Sports Centre the Central European League Leg of the World Cup in show jumping, Rīga-2018 (CSI2*-W/CSIYH1*), took place. Athletes from eight countries participated in the competition.
“As a regular sponsor, we can see how show jumping develops and evolves year by year, which gives us great joy and satisfaction as we support organisation of this important event for our athletes. Equestrian is a popular sport, but at the same time it is kind of a niche discipline, which is in line with Moduls Engineering philosophy as a specialist electrical and engineering niche company, which is highly valued among our colleagues in the construction industry,” says Jevgēņijs Savčuks, Moduls Engineering Member of the Board.
Andrea Herk from Romania took the Grand Prix and the best of the Latvian competitors Kristaps Neretnieks finished in the ninth place. The main competition course was Grand Prix Rīga with 140/160 cm high obstacles. Of 37 athletes on the start list, six finished the main course without penalty points and competed in the jump-off.
Overall, the Rīga leg of the World Cup took place over 12 courses. The main one, Grand Prix Rīga, gave points towards the Word Cup totals in the Central European League and an opportunity to earn qualification points for the 2018 World Games and 2019 European Championships.
Kleisti Sports Centre is an internationally recognised show jumping course, which, unlike other show jumping venues, has a well groomed grass course and not sand. Kleisti course has quality soil, which is not excessively hard, and is quite unique among the other European show jumping courses.
